Questions about Rollins Chapel and Leu Gardens

Hello!

I'm a newly engaged Central-Florida bride and am looking at a wedding date of November 2011.  I travel for work so have to ensure I am picking a date that is outside of my travel.  We went to look at locations today and we love the Rollins Chapel (we're both alumni) and the Leu Gardens for the reception.  Both are ones where you can only book a year out.  Does anyone know how competitive these sites are?  I appreciate any advice you can give me Laughing

Thanks!
Melissia

Lue Gardens was rediculous to try and get a date...they give you the number to call and leave a messave on the first of the month. So you would call Nov. 1st at 8am and leave a message with the date you want and a back up date. They go in oder of messages to assign dates, but dont call a minute before 8 bc they will put you at the bottom of the list....it was way to much effort for a place I was not completely in love with, but GOOD LUCK!! I really dont know how competitive it is but the lady I talked to made it sound like it was a mad rush.

I booked Leu Gardens in January for November. Have had no problems. I'm getting married on a Friday morning though.

The probelm with Leu gardens is they book several events in one day. So even if you get your date they are very strict about the time your allowed and restrictions. I've seen them end the music and bar 30 mins before your 4hr time block ends just to make sure everyone leaves on time. It is a beautiful place for the price though.

I spoke with a wedding coordinator who said Leu Gardens is famous for turning on the lights 15 min before your reception is over and telling the band/dj to stop playing. I thought that was insane.
