Shower ideas?

So my sister and one of my BMs were talking about have a little shower (I have already had a regular shower with my friends at school) for me the thurs before the wedding after we all go get mani/pedis (the BM luncheon is going to be the next day so everyone is there for it). The question is what theme should the shower be?
Ideas that have been proposed are the following, the things that I have little issues with in parentheses:
- lingerie (I don't really care for getting a bunch of lingerie)
- Holiday (it may be hard to find all kinds of holiday stuff now)
- linen (expensive $$$$)
- Around the clock (kinda silly, will prob get stuff we wont use)

Any other ideas or any of these that ya'll like the sound of?

    What's around the clock?

kinda like "around the clock:, my sister is throwing me an alphabet shower.  Every guest is given a letter, and has to get a gift that starts with that letter.

Around the clock (or alphabet) could be so multi-purpose. For instance, you could still get lingerie at an 'around the clock' shower. 1 garter belt... 2 "f*** me" heels (as a friend of mine calls them).... 12 pairs of lacy/racy panties... lol

Have fun, whatever you end up with!

You could also do an "Around the House" theme, where each guest is assigned a room of the house and they have to get a gift for that room.  So you would end up gettign stuff for the kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom, etc.

I know my girls were batting around the idea of a wine and cheese tasting for my bridal shower (I'm not a fan of the games and whatnot).I thought I would just throw that out there.I do think around the clock though sounds really cute! I had never heard of that before.

No offense, but I think all of those ideas are terrible.  What is the point of getting someone a themed gift that they neither want nor will ever use?  It sounds like a waste of money to me.  Can't they just get you stuff they think you would like or stuff off of your registry?  Or if you do a theme, can't it involve food and decorations instead of gifts?  I think themed gifts are a terrible idea.

I like Around the Clock!  When my sister got married, I threw her an Around the Clock shower and it came out really cute.  She got lots of good gifts, too.

I bet Theresa626 and MLHarbis are on the same page! LOL!! Since you said it will be small just do a "regular" shower. Honestly, I think you'll get what you get no matter of the theme.

I kinda agree that I don't see why there needs to be a themes, especially since you alreay had one shower.  I would say just a nice lunch with them would be great.

irisheyezfsu: I am having the bridesmaid luncheon the next day. They wanted to throw me a little shower that was more fun than just a regular shower (hence why themes got brought up) to do after we go out to dinner and go for mani/pedis

Theresa: I don't think its a themed gift per say- its more a suggestion of where to look on the registry for a gift. Like around the clock if you get the morning you would look on the registry for breakfast related stuff or if you get 5-7pm you would look for cocktail glasses or something. If that makes sense.

The food for the shower will prob just be like desserts or something small for after dinner and mani/pedis

I'd really want a "Honeymoon Hottie" theme. Everything you would want for your honeymoon i,e, lingerie, makeup, night gowns, robes, sundresses, shoes, naughty gifts, etc. If you were worried about her getting to many "naughty" gifts for her liking you could always assign 1/2 the guest list as naughty and 1/2 of the guest list as nice. hth It's a great idea for a couple who has most of their house stuff already. My FI and I live together and wouldn't really want stuff we already have.

OMG i am glad i read this. I am throwing a shower for my friend and i love the title "Honeymoon Hotte"! Cute! She doesn't want to do a traditional shower and decided that these kinds of gifts with a small crowd would be better. I like it! lol
