Orlando Caterers

I'm about to book with Lake Mary Events Center, but they have required caterers and I was wondering if anyone has used/is using any of these caterers:
  • Arthur’s Creative Events & Catering
  • Big City Catering
  • Classic Creations Catering
  • Cuisiniers Catered Cuisine & Events
  • John Michael Weddings & Special Events
  • Levan’s Catering
  • Puff’n Stuff Events Catering
  • River City Catering

I am planning an early wedding for 100/guest list. I want some sort of heavy hors d'oeuvres, or light brunch, or even just a bakery type bar.  What are everyones prices like? Who have you been particularly happy with?

I'm a LMEC bride too!  Congrats!  That place it jus beautiful...we fell in love with it right away and even moved our date to get it. We are using Arthur's Catering and could nto be happier!  Lori is our event planner and she has worked hard to make sure we're getting exactly what we want.  They are on the higher end of the price scale but when you see what you get it is well worth it plus I have never heard a bad review about them.  I would highly recommend checking them out.  Once you taste the food you will be so happy!

I second Arthur's!  I/my family has used them in past events many times and people are always talking about how great the food is afterward.  They are definitely on the higher end but will work with your budget the best they can.

I think I am  going to use John Michael! His prices are AWESOME!!! We are getting married at the LMEC too! We met with Arthurs and their food really is amazing, but as someone else said, it is definitely more on the higher end. If I had a bigger food budget, I would have booked them. But the price I recieved for a buffet from them was MORE than my seated with John Michael and I had way more included in my offer with him as well. Either or, they both have great reviews :) Good luck!

I'm a LMEC bride too! I looked at Cuisiniers and Puff N Stuff. Cuisiniers has cheaper prices and they're food is alright. I loved Puff N Stuff's food! I think we are going to use them. We went to a tasting of John Michael Events, and we thought their food tasted horrible! I went with my fiance and my parents and we all got bad chicken! Good luck with the decision!

ABOUT JOHN MICHAEL:   I posted a review of my experience under vendors on The Knot.  He then commented back, noting it was him, and saying that someone called me a "control freak" at the wedding because John Michael got the linen colors wrong.  Wow.  Talk about taking it the next level.  A business calling a bride names because of a review...?  I am including the review I wrote below.  As you can see, I wrote nice things about the food and said nothing personal and nasty like he did.  Even if someone did call me a control freak about the linens, what bride wouldn't be disappointed about a caterer getting that wrong? And what business does he have to call people names?  This is supposed to be about business and be professional.  Very hurtful..Here is the review I wrote.  John Michael took a very long time to respond to emails and I don't even think he nor his assistant checked them all. Luckily, sent e-mails leave an electronic "paper trail"...on the day before the wedding my fiance went to pick up the linens and he came back with the wrong color. I told him as much and when he called Michael he had the audacity to tell us he didn't have that color in his records about us and that it was MY FIANCE'S fault for picking up the wrong color linens. Wow. As you know, planning a wedding is stressful and my husband was very involved, but he was stressed out the day before our wedding and forgot which color we had chosen as the table linens, trusting he would be handed the correct kind. To make a long story short, they didn't have the correct linens in stock even, so we scavenged to get the correct color, but they were too short for the tables (not to the floor). The too short linens looked tacky. :( Anyway, BECAUSE emails leave a trail, I had proof that we had chosen the color linen they said we hadn't and they refunded the money. But only after him blaming my husband and me for everything and even saying we still could have used the wrong linens he provided that were floor length(white) and overlayed our rental linen(black) to get a more elegant effect. Really? Why didn't he suggest that the day of the disaster or have his assistant or coordinator call us and offer the suggestion and not suggest this five days after the wedding? hindsight is 20/20. The food was excellent though and his staff provided excellent service.

uh-oh....just read more JOHN MICHAEL comments back on other people's reviews on THE KNOT.  He called another bride's mom a "momzilla."  Who does he think he is?

Wow John Michael is one of our preferred caterers! I actually was going to go to his group style tasting and never went. Thank goodness...

    I'm getting married there too!

I've met with Puff n Stuff and Arthurs so far.

I was very put off by Arthur's. There was a lot of pressure put on us from the beginning of the meeting, and there was very little regard for price points when we were discussing out menu. When I told the coordinator I don't like shrimp and don't want it on our menu, it was apparently hilarious to her because she repeatedly mocked me about it. It took her a week to send us a quote (which was more expensive than Puff n Stuff) and she has been calling us a lot pressuring us to make a decision. Suffice to say: I wasn't a fan.

I have been dealing with Arthurs and I have to say that they have been great.  Price flexibility just isn't there.  I am having entirely hors devours and they have put together a great menu that ends up being around 60-something dollars said and done, no alcohol, table linens (but not chair covers) included.
