Rehearsal Dinner?

So FMIL is hard at work planning the rehearsal dinner and has come up with a theme, which I think could end up being kinda cute since I've never seen a themed RD. Has anyone else? Anyways, FSIL revealed some things that she wasn't sure were surprises or not and I'm not too thrilled...something involving plastic top hats and boas at a dinner where I was hoping  everyone would be in black cocktail dresses. I'm afraid our theme is becoming a gimick which is what I don't want. I can't come off as pushy, but I also don't want my only rehearsal dinner to be decorated like a child's birthday party. I think she is purposely keeping FI and I out of the loop so we (mainly I) don't butt in and everytime I ask her about details like what decorations she is planning, she says "don't worry about it" or "I dunno; I'll decide something". This is one of those instances where I  just have to grin and bear it, right?

ya i think you just need to go along with it. Maybe keep talking to FSIL about it so at least you aren't surprised. It will all turn out fine. you can still make sure everyone is dressed nicely tho

haha thanks. I'm sure by the time the dinner comes I won't care about much of anything because it will be such a long week! I'll sit back and enjoy an event that I DIDN'T have to plan :)

ya it will be nice not having to worry about details for the rehearsal dinner. I told FI that was his deal and he did a great job planning it!

Grin and take it...it will be just fine. In  the end even if you are not thrilled it will be a great story!

I agree- although, it's not a shower or anything, so I don't know why things are secret...
