DJ Budget

Hi ladies!!!

It as been a while since I have posted.  When I first got engaged I was a wedding planning fiend.. and then I hit a brick wall and went through about 6 months where the only part of my wedding I cared about was marrying my fiance and any thoughts of planning made me feel moderately ill, haha.

But, I am back up and running now and hopefully I can get this all together in the 10 months I have left!!

Which leads me to my question... I am starting my search for DJs and I am just kind of wondering, what is a reasonable amount to pay for a ceremony and recetion DJ (a grand total of about 4.5 hours)?  I know there are all kinds of prices for all kinds of vendors, but I am kind of wondering from maybe someone who has already done the DJ search, what is about average for our area?  I just have no idea where to start here..

Thanks for your help!!  =)

Everyone seems to be between $500 and $1000 for an average length reception

Honestly, if you can find someone for $1,000 that's a pretty good deal.  From my search $1,500 seemed to be pretty average.  Good luck to you and with your planning!!

Liz, who did you look at in that range?  I'd really like to keep it at $1000 if I can...

We initially had plans to marry and have the reception at a single venue, and our DJ quoted us $750 for the whole thing (it would have been about 8 hours total).  We ended up having the ceremony elsewhere and had to hire a different dj for that, but it all turned out great.  We used Chrisanne at Crystal Lake Productions for the reception, and she did a great job.  For the ceremony, we used Danny Kasler at DKNtertainment...great guy, was willing to do everything we asked timing-wise with the ceremony.  Not sure how much he would quote you for ceremony and reception, but I'm guessing it would definitely fall below your $1000 budget.  Good luck!

I am going with Al Dee Productions.  Al did my Matron of Honor's wedding three years ago and got everyone dancing.  I have never been to a wedding where the DJ could get EVERYONE on the day floor.  He has a great, fun personality and is great to work with.  His pricing is very reasonable!  Here is his website: http://www.aldeeproductions.com/

I'm using Darrin from Fun Factory, he is $950 I believe. I looked at a few others that were a little less but I can't remeber who exactly. My DJ was the first vendor I booked because I LOVE Darrin. I work for a big catering company and he is one of the only DJ's that I haven't found to be annoying. He has such a great personality and loves his job. I'm also getting my rental chairs from him bc he owns a rental company also. You still have a little time so if I were you I would go to the PWG show coming up and see if you can get a good discount on one there.
