Florida-Central Florida

We have no idea what to do now....

My FI and I just moved to Clearwater from Utah and have put our wedding plans on hold. I'm fine with waiting it out for a while cuz we need to rebuild our savings, but now I don't know what I want to do.

We're not sure if we want to go all out and fly back to Utah for a wedding. I've made some good friends here who want to throw me a bach. party etc. I never really had a lot of great friends in Utah. Our families are back there, but my family has all said that they're cool if we just elope and he doesn't talk to most of his. (He would mostly want to do it for his mom)

I've thought about just doing a fun little beach wedding here, but I already have a dress and I don't know if it would be weird to wear on the beach (its really pretty and I want to wear it lol)
And I doubt if my bmaids could come out here so I would feel bad if I just cut them out of everything.

I've tried to talk to my FI about it, but it kind of stresses him out, so he mostly just shrugs his shoulders and says "I dunno"

Edit: I know its not weird to wear a wedding dress on the beach, just my TYPE of dress isn't very beachy.

Re: We have no idea what to do now....

  • You could have the wedding in a location right by the beach (with your beautiful dress) and then change into a different, more casual white beach dress when you move the reception onto the sand...that way you don't damage or "clash" with your surroundings, but get the best of both.
  • I just went through this stress. My fiancee and I are both from FL. We just moved to Mississippi though and will be here the next four years. My advice: do what feels right to you. We decided to do it in Fl even though it will be more stressful to plan because it is more important our family is there verses our friends. Florida is beautiful and if you have always wanted an outdoor wedding that might be your way to go. We are having indoors though, so it didn't matter to us as far as location. Good luck deciding!
