Honeymoon Clothing??

Hey ladies,
I'm totally in honeymoon prep mode even though our wedding isn't until June & honeymoon in July!  However, I'm curious if you all have recommendations on good stores that have bach/resort wear with hot honeymoon clothes?!  I can't wait to start shopping for some of the hottest clothes of my life (especially since I've already lost about 45 lbs)!  Any ideas would be great!
Thanks!!

Re: Honeymoon Clothing??

  • No specific recommendations but huge congrats on the weight loss!
  • I would say it depends on what you are looking for and what your budget is. I love shopping at Target for their summer clothes which have started to hit the shelves. They have cute dresses and great swim suits. Also Forever21 is one of my favorites. It is kind of one of those stores you have to search for and try everything on but I can find some amazingly cute outfits there and they are very fashionable.

  • where are you going and for how long? and if it's just a beach vacay you dont need much. jcrew is my fave for swimsuits.

  • Congrats on the weight loss!

If you're going to a beachy resort or on a cruise, you honestly don't need many new clothes. I've found that when I'm on a tropical vacation, all I really wear are bathing suits and coverups during the day and sundresses and sandals at night. I also bring a few pairs of shorts and tank tops for excursions, and other than that anything I bring just ends up sitting in my suitcase taking up room.

I usually buy most of my "resort wear" from Victorias Secret (they sell it year round online), Target, F21, and Body Central.
  • I tend to end up at Kohl's a lot, if you catch them during a seasonal sale, you can score big. Last year, I hit their Memorial Day sale, and seriously wound up getting 10 different sun dresses of all different lengths for like $100.00-all of them can easily do double duty as work and play clothes depending on how they're accessorized.

For warm weather vacations I try to have the following in my suitcase:

    *At least one maxi dress
*A black jersey knit dress (The fabric travels well, and can be accessorized for nice dinners)
    *Pair of cute shorts
    *a skirt-any length
*At least one bathing suit (I recommend Victoria's Secret)
*Random assortment of pretty tank tops
    *pair of flip flops
    *paid of nice shoes (Sandals/heels/whatever)

Usually, I'll wear the tank tops during the day with a skirt or the shorts, unless I'm swimming. The dresses I'll wear for night stuff ... or especially hot days when a maxi dress is a God-send.

You can obviously tweak the list to fit your own personal preferences, but a suit case like this (Obviously, adding in things like socks and underwear) can get me through a week without having to send out laundry or anything like that. I also have a thing for packing really light.

    Hope this helps!

  • I purchased almost everything for my HM online........Macy's, Penney's, Victoria Secret clothing & bathing suits when things were in their clearance section.

I'm anal about packing everything into a carryon, hate checking bags. Our HM was in CA for 2 weeks and I got it all into a carryon. So did my hubby (with a lot of oversight from me LOL)

I travel quite a bit for work, and we take family trips. While it sounds boring, all the clothing I buy for work and vacations is black and white........black or white tops, tank tops, sweaters, dresses, shorts, skirts. I pack a pair of black or white flats and slip-on heels, and a pair of sandals in one of those colors.  I wear my running shoes on the plane, and if I take a hoodie or coat, I also wear that.  This has saved me SO MUCH aggravation of matching shoes to clothing and purses, etc.
  • Thanks for the tips ladies!  With all the weight I've lost, I haven't been shopping in forever and nothing fits... so, my reward for the weight loss is definitely honeymoon shopping and I am not going to budget it at all.  I told myself I wouldn't replace my wardrobe until about a month before the honeymoon when I should be pretty close to my goal weight.  Plus, I went from wearing plus-size clothes to regular clothes and, well, the last time I was this size was ten years ago so I surely wouldn't shop in the same stores as I did then!  Haha, so ultimately I don't even know where to start, but you all gave me some great ideas!  Thanks so much.  Swimsuit shopping is going to be a BLAST for the first time in my life!!!

I'm the same way: I have a carryon sized suit case for myself, and a small bag for our basic toiletries. If I can't fit something into one of those bags, it does not need to come with me. DH is the exact opposite: if he could bring the kitchen sink, he probably would-but with a little prodding over the years, he's definitely gotten way better.
