Puerto Rico trip report

I know a couple of you wanted to know about my trip to PR so I figured I would do a quick recap.  We stayed at the Embassy Suites in Carolina (part of San Juan).  It's about 5 min from the airport.  The hotel was nice, clean, big rooms.  The breakfast is included and they actually do cook to order eggs/omlets, then have homefries, bacon, toast, bagels, muffins, cereal, fruit, and yogurt.  They have a manager's special every day from 5:30-7:30 where you can get free cocktails and snacks.  The pool area is nice, although I didn't go in as the water felt chilly to me.  The beach is down the street, a 5 min walk and is gorgeous.  The hotel has a section of the beach with a guy who will give you towels, chairs, and an umbrella.  The water was warm and clear with huge waves.  We spent the majority of our trip between the beach, pool and eating.

One day we went into old san juan.  We took the bus which was 75 cents/person and took about 45 minutes.  We walked all around and checked out the two forts.  Then we took the ferry over to the area where the Bicardi Factory is and had a couple free drinks and the tour.

Puerto Rico was really nice in that the weather was great, 85 and sunny every day, the food was good and the people were very nice.  I did realize that I've been spoiled by all inclusive resorts though.  I miss not having a drink whenever I want or to eat whenever.  Our fave restaurant there was Metropol which I would highly recommend if anyone goes to the Isla Verde area.  The food was to die for.
