Belize HM?

We are considering Belize for our HM in April 2011, among other destinations...

Anyone have any thoughts or advice regarding hotels, etc?

We are renting a condo in Ambergris Caye at Xanadu resorts. That way, we can eat in for breakfast and lunch if we want, and it's easy to walk around, close to the beach, restaurants, etc. We go in March 2011 but I did a lot of research about it! Depends on HOW much you want to spend and what part of Belize.

We are going in May 2011! We're spending 6 nights in the rainforest at Blancaneaux Lodge in a Luxury Cabana, which looks absolutely magical. After that, we're spending another 6 nights at Ambergris Caye at the Victoria House.

We're at Mata Chica in a private cottage on the beach. Victoria house had excellent reviews as well. I had a friend who lived in Belize for about a year. You want to stay on the island (ambergis caye). If you are north of the San Pedro (like I am) it is a bit harder to get around due to the condition of the roads. I may end up having to boat back and forth a bit if I want to go to San Pedro. She also recommended taking the flight not the boat from belize city to the island. She said the cab rides thru town to the boat is scary and totally not worth the savings. I hope that helps!
