Maui Recommendations

My fiance and I are going to go to Maui for one week for our honeymoon. We haven't booked flights or a place to stay yet but both want to visit this island. I was hoping to get some recommendations on where to stay, where to eat (we like pretty much everything), and the best places to go. Also, has anyone island "hopped" for day trips? I wouldn't mind seeing Kauai but not sure if that's too much to fit into one week. Thanks!

Condo recommendation- Kahana Village.  It was amazing and we definitely saved money buying groceries and making our own breakfast and lunch and going out for dinners.  Pretty much spot on advice from everyone else.  My favorite thing was the Road to Hana.  We spent the entire day doing it but we stopped EVERYWHERE!  I really enjoyed being able to go at our own pace rather than being rushed on a guided tour.  Went a Old Lahaina Luau -meh it was okay, I guess you are supposed to go to a luau in HI though right?  Inter-island flight was a breeze we flew from the main airport in Honolulu to Maui for like $40 so I don't see why island hopping would be an issue, but you will find lots to do on Maui.  The only regret I have is not spending enough down time because we wanted to see everything.
