Where to Cruise??

Hello all!

FI and I are considering going on a cruise for our HM, but we don't have a clue where to go!  For those of you who have gone on cruises (or are going to go), where is a good destination for a March cruise?  I am afraid of the air being chilly while we're at sea depending on where we go.  Also, which cruise lines/ships do you suggest?  We're totally open to anything!  And clueless!

Thanks so much in advance for the advice!

Re: Where to Cruise??

  • Go on Carnival!  I've been on 3 different cruise lines and Carnival has the biggest rooms, the most activities, and is just fun!  Head down to the Cariibean in March-the further down the warmer it will be!  Or even down to Mexico.  Two of our favorite stops are Cozemel in mexico and Grand Cayman Island.

I would recommend NOT goign Bermuda because it will be very chilly in March!

  • I personally would avoid Mexico during the entire month of March... it will be filled with spring breakers... and so will Carnival cruises.  I would probably do a cruise on Norwegian or Royal Caribbean and go to the Eastern Caribbean.

  • I've done a Western Caribbean cruise (Cozumel, Cayman Islands, and Ocho Rios) on Carnival and I've done a Southern Caribbean cruise on Royal Caribbean (Aruba, Curacao, Dominica, and St. Thomas). Both were amazing, but everything about the Royal Caribbean cruise was far superior. The ship, the stops on the itinerary, other passengers (not nearly as many kids), the food, the rooms, etc..

Just a note though, it shouldn't ever be chilly anywhere down in the Caribbean no matter what time of year. Most of the islands don't drop below the 80's. I went to Cancun last January and it was in the 80's the whole time. If you're really worried about it not being warm enough, then I highly suggest a Southern Caribbean cruise. The one we went on was this past November and it was VERY hot down in Aruba and Curacao, we just drank a lot of water and chose excursions that involved water such as snorkeling or a day at the beach. The cruise started and ended in San Juan which was also very warm. Just as pp mentioned, just don't choose an itinerary with Bermuda which is much farther north off the coast of the Carolinas.
  • My FI and I are taking a Royal Carribean cruise to the Bahamas.  Royal Carribean has a private island they spend a day at.  The excursions like snorkeling are included there.  The island is called CocoCay.  Our cruise, by itself, is costing under $600.

  • Wow!  Thanks so much for all the good advice!  I will have to look into those.  Suz--How is your cruise so cheap?  Are you getting a deal or something?

  • Suz... are you going on the 4 night on the Monarch?  I just did that cruise in Feb 2009 and again in Oct 2009 and going again Oct 2010 lol.  You might want to call whoever you booked through though and check for a sale because our cruise for Oct 2010 just went down $142 a cabin so it is only $265 a person right now... I was so excited when our TA called us to say she got the price adjusted.  And last Oct when we went on it it was only $191 a person!!  Just a thought :-)
