interval international

has anyone been to a timeshare through interval international?  any recommendations?  we prefer somewhere outside of the US and somewhere with a beach:)

Have you gone to the Interval website?  You can see the places that are available - there are a ton of beachy options.  You can go to Hawaii (even though that's in the US), the Caribbean, Mexico, the South Pacific, etc.  When I saw a place that interested me, I looked it up on Trip Advisor for reviews.

You may want to check with the people that are giving you the gift, it's not necessarily true that you can go anywhere at any time.  We wound up not using our gift from my mom as our HM because you have to put in your request pretty far in advance, and you either have to have flexible locations or dates and it just didn't work out for us.

Edited for several typos - gah!

  • we are going to use a interval international timeshare on saturday for our honeymoon! ours was a gift as well and im wicked excited to go!  :)
  • We used a week in Kuaui at the Westin, it was gorgeous! However, to use the beach you had to go to the St Regis (which was also beautiful). The  weather was not that great because it is on the North side of the island and it was rainy everyday until the afternoon. So we had to drive South to get beach weather, which was frustrating for us. We went in August.

The Westin in Cabo looks gorgeous. I think you can relay on the bigger name places, like the Westins and Mariotts. Check the resort website for the levels and then go onto Trip Advisor and read reviews.

BTW- we were not able to confirm the week until about 2 1/2 months before, and so we had to book our flights not knowing for sure if we had the week, but it all worked out fine. I think they can usually tell you whether it will become available or not- we were assured a room would be available because August is not that busy in Hawaii.
  • We were also given 2 weeks with interval as a gift for our honeymoon and I dont even think we will end up using it. Unless you book about 2 years in advance you can never get anythign good unless your dates are totally flexible....and I really want to leave right after the wedding, not wait a month or two....

Good luck to you though! i hope it works out differently for you.
