San Diego Honeymoon

Any recommendations on hotels?  

I'd like to stay near the beach or at least within walking distance of the streetcars.  We aren't keen on renting a car b/c of ridiculous parking fees hotels impose.

You may want to reconsider renting a car-San Diego is a tough place to get around without a car, and you'll be limiting yourself from going to La Jolla, Coronado, Torrey Pines, and any of the great vinyards in the area.  I can't imagine hotel parking in downtown San Diego is more tan $20 a day, and many hotels, if you're not staying in downtown, will be free (I stayed at the Bahia on Mission Bay last week and there was no parking fee).
