Vegas Honeymoon?

We were thinking of doing Vegas for our honeymoon. Neither one of us have ever been out there. Does anyone have any suggestions on hotels or honeymoon packages? We would like to be on the strip and close to all the action! Maybe a nice pool to lay out and some great buffet type restaurants. We have a budget of $2000 for a week or so :)

Re: Vegas Honeymoon?

  • A lot of the ladies on this board do not like Vegas as a honeymoon option. But in reality it is just whatever you want. If you are wanting more of a party active type honeymoon then it is perfect for you. 2k however could get you a honeymoon in Mexicio if you wanted. We are going to Las Vegas next month and we are really excited. Should be a ton of fun. :-)

Probably best bet is to stay mid-strip. Many places have specials for Vegas including Southwest Vacations. Hopefully some other people will have suggestion on which specific hotels/casinos to stay at and more advice.

  • We are doing vegas in july for our honeymoon! I think $2000 is a great budget. We spent 1300 on flights and our hotel at the Luxor. Our hotel is at the end of the strip. If you are wanting something closer to the action Id suggest Ceasars palace, Flamingo etc. You can google hotels in the center of the strip and you can get a lot of info. I booked through Allegiant air at a steal. Hope that helps! Feel free to ask more questions...
  • I recommend Mandalay Bay.  It's at the end of the strip, next to the Luxor, but they have a man made beach.  Where else can you find something like that in the middle of a city?  The hotel was great when we went.  It's fun to walk along the strip and check out the themes at the various places.  I have also stayed at the Paris, which is more centrally located, but I didn't like it as much.

My most favourite buffet is the one at Wynn. In fact, that's our favourite Vegas resort, I highly recommend it. Have fun, LV is great!! eta - post this question on the LV board, it's very active and helpful.
  • I think Vegas can be totally what you make of it. It can be a very active, go go go, wild type of vacation, or it can be relaxing and luxurious.

For hotels, I'd recommend places mid-strip: Mirage, Bellagio, Caesar's, Venetian, the Wynn. Mandalay Bay has a really nice pool/fake beach but is located far at one end of the strip, so it's not as centrally located. The Mirage has a nice pool too and is more mid-strip, right in the center of everything.

If you like shows, I'd highly recommend a Cirque show. We had a blast at LOVE, at the Mirage. If you want a more relaxing, luxurious trip, go to the spa at one of the nice hotels and have a spa day with your H.

You can also rent a car and drive out to Red Rock one day. You can eat at nice restaurants, lay by the pool, spend time at the spa, and it can be very low-key. Or you can go bar and club-hopping, sightsee all the time, go to different hotels to check them out, go shopping, etc and it can be a very busy trip. Or you can do something in the middle. Vegas is what you make of it. It's a fun place.

  • I really wouldn't recommend staying at Luxor for your honeymoon. It's on the lower end of hotels on the strip, I've stayed there one night and it was disgusting. For a honeymoon I would rec: Venetian, bellagio, Wynn, Cosmo, palazzo. Circus circus, hooter hotel, stratosphere and Luxor can all be had for under fifty bucks a night, and sometimes I feel you shouldn't even pay that.

Can I ask where you got this "deal"?

I think you WAY over paid for that. I booked flights and hotel, including a show and 434 for both my husband and I leaving next Sunday......

I didn't suggest she stay there. I personally love the Luxor. We decided together to book there. Our choice. How long were you staying that would probably be the difference in price...
  • oh and btw we are staying in a suite
  • Thanks for all of your responses! We are super excited to experience Vegas! We want to kind of mix it up. Have a few relaxing days with a spa and laying out by the pool and then a few days to sightsee and visit some attractions. I love staying in hotels so Im going to do some research to see where I can get a nice room for a good deal. Since its our honeymoon, we were looking at suites with maybe a hot tub and a view. I cant wait to start planning! :)
  • I stayed in a suite at Aria that was basically all windows. It was beautiful and the bathroom was amazing. The tub felt like u were in the middle of the strip. I've stayed on sky suites there and a corner suite both were great. I also really love the bellagio. Enjoy!!
  • We like Mirage because it's mid-strip and because their website has fabulous package deals for air and hotel and rental car if you decide you need a car (sometimes we get a car, sometimes not).
  • If this is your first trip to Vegas I would also second the recos about staying mid-strip (Ceasars, Bellagio...).  I have stayed at the Luxor and probably wouldn't want to stay there for my honeymoon, but it all depends on personal taste and even more your budget.  So far my favorite hotel is Ceasars b/c I love their pool.

You can also look at sites like jetsetter.com for deals.  My husband was able to stay in a wrap around suite in Cosmopolitan for a weekend that overlooked the fountains.  They even had a balcony, it was pretty amazing.

If you want to check out the clubs with rooftops, etc try going during the week.  It isn't really crowded and you can enjoy the view with a cocktail!!  Vegas is awesome have an amazing time!!
  • We are going to Vegas too right after the wedding for just a mini honeymoon. We are staying at NewYork New York. The MGM hotels are offering a deal right now. We got our room for 25% off with a $50 beverage credit included. For airfare and hotel we are paying around 800. We stayed at the Luxor last year and it wasn't terrible. There is barely any cell phone reception in the rooms though and same for wifi. The breakfast buffet was really good. It's also close to Mandalay bay which has the burger bar which is an awesome resturant.
  • I would also recommend staying somewhere midstrip. Luxor and Mandalay Bay are too far down in my opinion. I have stayed at Ceasers, New York New York, Planet Hollywood, and Bellagio. After staying at the Bellagio this past summer I seriously probably will not stay anywhere else when I return. It was such a wonderful experience, their pool area and the hotel are gorgeous. We booked a basic room and the room and bathroom were seriously huge, usually in Vegas the rooms can be pretty small. If you can afford it, thats where I would go.

  • It's not on the strip, its on freemont street but I highly recommend checking out the golden nugget in Vegas. They have a killer pool with a shark tank and a water slide that goes through it :-)
