Outdoor ceremony in Sept?

Hi all,
FI and I have just found this really awesome pavillion at a venue we were looking at. It's covered and there are pull down "windows" in case of bad weather (obv the pavillion is covered).. has anyone here had a reception outdoors in September (it'd be 9/1, so I mean... JUST september.. nearly August)? Does it get cold? Is it too hot? I'm nervous to commit to outside.. any advice?

Re: Outdoor ceremony in Sept?

  • State?

If it's CT, then I think you're totally fine.  9/1 is often on or before Labor Day, which is still considered summer, but often isn't blazingly hot.

Disclaimer: I'm basing my answer off of weather in Philadelphia/Atlantic City in the past couple years.
  • I'm doing an outdoor wedding at the end of october...in Canada! lol I think you will be fine :)

  • my is on sept 30 in santa barbara california and the weather is normally around 75 dregrees outside! its really up to where you live :)
  • Check the Farmer's Almanac for your area.  They can give you the highs and lows for that date in past years.  It is not a perfect system, but it will at least give you an idea of past temperatures:  http://www.farmersalmanac.com/weather-history/
  • I'm getting married the end of August in NY. The venue we are getting married at has an open garden so if it rains we need to move the ceremony in doors. With this crazy weather you honestly can't determine how it's going to be. If it's at night time it should be fine since the temperature drops so it wouldn't be too cold or too hot.  It's your day and if it rains or doesn't rain it will still be special!
  • I'm getting married on September 22 in a gazebo outside in WV. When we picked the date we looked at the almanac and judged it by this past year. It was about right - lower 70s or so. Also timed the sunsets to pick the time. Hope this helps.

  • Thinking about Oct 11th weekend in RI for an outside ceremony not for more than a half an hour, the reception inside. Do you think it will be to cold for our guests? We will be on the lake and we thought the fall colors on the trees would be a nice backdrop.
