Favors for outdoor rustic wedding?

I was wondering what you outdoor wedding brides were using for your favors.  I'm having such a hard time with this!!
I was set on doing the arborday.org charity donation where they'll plant a tree for each guest, but now I'm second guessing this idea.   I've also nixed the tree sapling favor idea.  Any other ideas?

  • I think I'm going to do seeds.  There's this stuff that's like seeds in paper and you can just plant the whole little thing and get wildflowers.  They have them in TK wedding shop.  Also, today I was looking through some pics my venue sent of differnt table settings they've done, and in the one pic there were these cute little burlap bags that I think contained tulip bulbs.  It was kinda hard to tell b/c the pic was small, but I'm gonna see if I can track something like that down as well.
  • I'm doing birdseed heart favors (an idea I got from cristin53). you use egg whites to hold them together...

  • I just went with chocolate.  You cannot choose a favor that eveyone will enjoy, but I really feel that the edible favors are your best bet.

  • We're doing a daisy themed wedding, so we are giving out daisy seed bags with a note attached that reads, "He loves me.  He loves me not.  He Loves me!  So, we tied the knot!"

We are doing a picnic theme and I found little picnic baskets that we are putting Jelly Belly beans in our wedding colors in them.
  • We are doing a fall outdoor wedding in Wisconsin, so we decided to do little bottles of sparkling apple cider. Then I simply tied ribbons that matched our theme and attached a little 'thank you' note. I love how they turned out!

  • The seed idea had always been a favorite of mine... However, I recently decided to do a honey jar, berry jams, peaches, pairs and other "canned" goods with ribbons and a cloth square.  I don't have any pictures, but it will be cute.  We are getting married in a barn, so it's slightly outdoor and rustic...  I wanted to do favors that people will be able to use- so it's not just wasted money.
  • We did mini jars of homemade raspberry jam (raspberries out of my mother in law's yard).  We also made jars of homemade pickles for the centre pieces.  My fiance's family is known for their pickles, so last fall we canned a bunch extra. I even had canning labels made that say our name and the date of the wedding.  We tied both with raffia.  It's very rustic!
  • I agree with having favors you can use.

What kind of food are you serving? You could always do something that goes along with it. Like olive oil, a packet of bbq spice meat rub.

I'm thinking about using my favorite salsa mix http://mamagcreations.com/ and putting it into a container with instructions on how to make the salsa. We're having bbq though, so Myles is trying to veto. Cry

I really like these too from OwlNaturals on etsy. I'm not sure if they count as rustic though. They're homemade soaps wrapped in vintage childrens book pages.

  • We are going the seed route as well. My favorite flower is a local wildflower that doesn't hold up well to being cut so I couldn't have it in my boquet, so instead we are buying bulk, putting them in small envelopes and wrapping in cool fabric (and tying with hemp!) Many of my guests are from out of town, as well, so this will travel well, whereas the saplings wouldn't. They can plant it immediately when they get home and they will bloom next spring in the same colors our wedding is themed around!
  • My fiance and I made floating wine bottle holders made from various wood and burned our names and the date on the bottom. We are giving one to each couple.. we love the idea :)

  • My cousin has a maple syrup operation on the side ( I live in Canada- best maple syrup) and so ym FI and I did 100mL maple leaf bottles with my cousin's maple syrup inside. We did labels for their business on one side and our names and date on a label but tied around the neck with raffia! They look lovely and I'm very excited fro everyone to try to the syrup!!!
  • My fi and i met at starbucks so were giving out little baggies with ground coffee in them with a ribbon and sticker with our monogram.... the ground coffee is cheep and goes a long way when making the favors. On the table we are going to have a little bio about how we met to tie it in   Just a little personal touch
