Outdoor Ceremony

I have decided to change my ceremony location and reception location and we are having the ceremony outside. I have no idea where to start with the planning and what I need. It is in a park right by a lake. I would love to see anyone's pictures and hear everyone's ideas. We will be having about 300 guests and it will be September 3rd 2010 in South Dakota.

First of all, you will need a backup location. Can you have the ceremony in the reception location in case it rains? If not, you will need to find an alternate location or reserve a very large tent that will shelter 300 people. You will also need to rent chairs for everyone. What are you doing for music? If you have musicians, you need to make sure they have speakers and an amp so everyone can hear you. Also, our musicians required shade so make sure you check with them to see if they have any restrictions for playing outdoors. You will also need a mic so people in the back can hear your ceremony. Also think about where the sun will be at the time of your ceremony and adjust the location accordingly. The sun was in my eyes during my ceremony so I'm squinty in a lot of my photos. Here are a couple of pics of our ceremony location:

We did our wedding ceremony in a garden and had a tent for the reception. We used simple white garden chairs and lined the isle with rose petals (which was realllllllly expensive...I would buy silk petals if I had to do it again). We got married under an arch decorated with tule and flowers. We used fans as our programs since it was outdoors (like these: http://www.beau-coup.com/personalized-favor-fans.htm except we had all the program info printed on the front. My bridesmaids and I made them and it was cheap and fairly easy if you have the time.) We had a string quartet for the ceremony which was lovely (and a DJ for the reception). The only thing that was a pain was getting a wireless mic for the minister and readers, but it worked out!
