vendor contract question

The contract from our vendor for the ceremony and reception site (they will be held at the same place) includes a cluase that the vendor reserves the right to make changes or amendments to the contract at any time without my consent.  This makes me a little nervous and I will ask to have it removed if possible.  Not having seen contracts for other vendors is this a normal clause?

Re: vendor contract question

  • no...none of my vendors have anything like that.  I'd see if htey can remove it.

  • I've never heard of a clause like this.  I probably wouldn't sign anything unless they removed it.  Otherwise you're giving them free will to do whatever they like.  Perhaps you can check on your local board and see if anyone has used this venue and get their feedback?
  • Then what's the point of the contrat? So only you have to abide? Don't think so...definitely have that removed, or don't sign.

That's basically saying that the day before the wedding they could tell you "Hey, you owe us an extra million dollars" I wouldn't sign this.

  • I wouldn't sign it either. It's good that you read it carefully and caught that. I wonder why they put that clause in. Good luck with that! And thank you for posting this! I'm notorious for not being "thorough" when I read- I read too fast and miss things sometimes.

Off topic: how do you get your wedding ticker to show up in comments?
  • nothing is final without your signature, do not sign anything unless you agree to all of it, if you agree with it "as is" they can add anything and you don't want any surprises!  I've done weddings for yrs and believe me you do NOT want or need the added stress.  Stick to your guns do not cave ok!!!  Congrats!
  • I asked and they removed it.  Thanks!
