Outdoor Weddings

Music

What are you guys planning on doing for music?
We are having our wedding outdoors at a state park so it isn't in a tent or shelter or anything. It might not be possible for us to run an extension cord.
They only musically inclined people we know are my MOH who plays the trumpet and my step brother who plays the guitar.
Any suggestions?

  • We did a lot of research for musicians in our area. We were able to find a harpist in our budget, so I say if you want a live musician definitely do some homework and you'll find someone!

  • We hired a string trio to do the ceremony music, then travel to the reception location for cocktail hour.

  • You can always go to a college/hs and hire string, guitar, anything. There are things that DJs have where you don't need an extension cord!!! There are even generators! Hehe
  • The organ player at my church is in music school.  We asked him if he had any suggestions and any school friends that would be interested in the job.

  • We're having a classical guitarist (who happens to be a good friend, so this is our wedding present from him).  We considered a small string group, but we thought this might be a little simpler.
