Tent size for dinner only... other space for dancing ect.

Every tent vendor seems to be giving me a different size tent suggestion and I have no idea what we need.

My wedding reception is at an old historic barn BUT there is not enough room in the barn for all the tables so we are planning to supplement the barn space with a tent. The tent will only be used to eat under (we will have some seating and high top tables in the barn... just not for dinner).

We will have round tables for 8-9 people and a head table for 15 their will be 150 guests. What size tent do you think we need? There will be no dance floor or anything in the tent.

Thanks!!!

  • I work at a tent rental company. I would reccomed a 40x60.
    Best of luck!

The tent I need is for the same amount of people. This is from the email the rental company sent me: "The 30x60 ultra frame tent will hold 24-8' tables and 192 chairs."

Unfortunately, she didn't answer my question about round tables and if there is a difference in space. I'm not pleased with the rental company, but it's all that will cater to our town, so they're free to be rude, inconsistant, and expensive.
  • Round Tables will take up much more space than long tables.

Jacklovessarah- a 30x60 will be very tight for 192 people, even with long tables, I would consider increasing your size. I would also ask about a pole tent. It will have center poles, but are generally MUCH cheaper than frame tents, which means you may be able to get more tent for your money.

P.s) if you are trying to fit 192 people at rounds I would recommend trying to upgrade to a 40x80 pole. I think you will be much happier with the overall feel and size much better if you try to squeeze it all into a 30x60.

    Best of luck!

Thanks for the advice! We actually only have 133 adults and 22 children invited, but we would need space to set up food. I'll ask them about pole tents for sure. That's actually the kind of tent that I wanted, but I don't know if they just don't offer it in that size or if they're just not paying attention to my questions.

OP: sorry for stealing your thread!
