Outdoor Weddings

Tent Issue

What to do, what to do!?

So we have a back up plan (ceremony will be at reception site, which is indoors) if it's down pouring, muddy, etc....If it's a goregous, not a cloud in the sky kind of day I don't want a tent, if it's drizzling, I would most definielty want a tent.
So here's my issue. I need to decide on a tent like yesterday!  I would have 3 days prior to the wedding to cancel the rental. But let's say on Thursday there is a 50% chance of rain for Saturday and I don't cancel, then come Saturday it's this beautiful sunny day, I DO NOT want a tent :(  So do I just not get a tent and if it's raining at all go with the back up plan or go with the tent, cancel if I can and if not just use the tent??
Help please :)

My parents own a tent rental company, and I personally think it i absolutely 100% crazy to try to plan a outdoor wedding and not have a tent. Even if it is a beautiful day the tent is only goung to make it better. You provide your guests with shade on hot days, and it overall (IMH) is a good idea. If you are worried about it being ugly/dirty, just make sure you look at previous work the tent compay has done.

    Best of luck!

<div>That's really only a question you can decide.  Our plan B is the same as yours, ceremony in the indoor reception venue.  If you have the extra funds and would prefer to have an outdoor wedding even if its a bit spotty or sprinkling then go for it and rent the tent.  You have plenty of time to cancel if you change your mind but it will be harder to find one the longer you wait if you decide that you need one down the line.</div>

  • If this is just the ceremony and you already have a back-up plan, I don't think I would worry about getting a tent. If you were worried about the ceremony and reception, & you didn't have a back-up plan, I wouldn't hesitate to vote tent!

</div><div>By all means, check it, but really...please don't rely on it.  </div><div>
</div><div>There isn't really a solution that you are going to be happy with.  Frankly, even on a nice day many people might enjoy the shade a tent provides.  If you don't get it and it rains, you are stuck.  If you do get it and the weather is perfect, people can linger in, or out, of the tent.  Just make the choice with the info you have three days before, and let it go.
