Montego bay vs. Negril?

THoughts anyone? I was looking at the Iberostar in Montego bay.. but also looking at Negril...

Re: Montego bay vs. Negril?

  • Lurker here.  Have not gone to Negril.  However, Montego Bay was lovely and beautiful and we had a great time.  Only downside is that that is where the airport is.  Good if you don't want to travel much after your plane, bad if you'll be annoyed by the noise.  (Didn't bother us a bit.)  I've heard good things about Negril but you're in for a long ride after you land (and driving there is scary as hell.)

  • We took our first anniversary trip to Sandals in Negril. Negril is beautiful and a lot of the resorts are on the 7 mile beach. The ride from the airport to Negril is roughly 90 and is a great way to site see. The ride also is NOT "scary as hell". No different than driving around cities here or the Pocono mountains.

I have pics and a review from our trip there in the link above my siggy pic if you'd like to check it out.
  • We went to Sandals Negril last year and I agree with pp that the ride was not at all scary.  In fact, it was kind of fun.  they give you beer to take with you on the ride down.  then half way to the resort you stop at this bar briefly for a bathroom break and you can get more beer if you want.  You really get to see some of the country side.  It is very poor but def not scary.
  • thanks kristi your website with reviews is very helpful! we are thinking of iberostar in Montego bay, it has great reviews and right in our budget!

I have been to both and I like Negril better! The beach is nicer in Negril.

  • Negril is more laid back and romantic than MoBay but I didn't feel that there was much of a nightlife. MoBay has the best of both worlds (to me) b/c you can chill on the beach during the day as well as get out at night. It's all about what you're looking for.

Driving in Jamaica is definitely an adventure but I wouldn't classify it as scary. Enjoy mon!
