Help Help Help Pretty Please

Okay So my fiance and I are supposed to be getting Married July 20th 2012, and that date is firm well assuming i can get it together by then. I have pretty much nothing planned.  I am trying to keep this at a vry low budget like maybe no more than 6 to 7grandish- We are looking to get married outside some where but having a hard time finding a receptionsite outside in our area, leiceter, spencer, charlton, sturbridge, auburn, or surrounding towns with a reception hall close-i am sure there are places but to be honest i am terrible at things like this so i am very overwhelmed and i dont even know where to start. i am not looking to spend an arm and a leg on food-  i do kno a caterer that will do it for a good price but i dont even know where to start to look for a hall that allows u to use your own caterer.. orginially we wanted to get married on the beach which we realized just couldnt happen so we are just gnna do a beach themed wedding- anyway i knw  this post is all over the place but ANYYYY suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!

** July 20th 2012 is exactly 10 years from when we first  started dating incase ur wndering why the date is important and i'd really rather not change it if at all possible.. i know im corny :-)

  • First of all, spelling and grammar are your friends.  Your post is extremely difficult to understand, and to be honest, I only made it about half-way through the first paragraph.

Second of all, if you look to the left side of the screen you will see the Budget Brides board.  I recommend you lurk over there for a few days and read up on the posts over there.   $6000-$7000 is a lot of money, and you should be able to do a lot with it.

Also, if you click on  "Local Wedding Boards" on the left, you should be able to scroll down and find the area that best suits your location.    I live in Scotland, and I have NO IDEA where those places are that you listed (I'm assuming near Boston?).  Your local board will be able to give better advice about venues to look at.  Again, I would recommend that you read through the older posts to get a feel for the board first --chances are someone asked the exact same question in the last few days.

Finally, give Google a try.  It's pretty good.

  • Try looking at http://worcester.weddings.com/Local/worcester-ReceptionCeremonySites/VendorResults.aspx/CAR and googling things like 'Auburn, MA wedding venue' and see what you can find.

Since you have a rather short planning time, focus on gettting 'the basics' as soon as you can.  (That is, a place, food, photographer, officiant and music/dj if you want professionals).  You should also decide how many people you want to invite, since that will potentially affect the venue you select.

Then start working your way through things like cake, invitations, flowers and wedding party clothing.  You should have your colors selected at this point.

Last, focus in on 'details' that make things pretty but you can be married without, like centerpieces, favors, ceremony decorations, programs, etc.

  • Illegible posting, but from what I got out of it, try your local boards, but be nice to them and use proper grammar, spelling, punctuation and paragraphs.  All which were lacking here.

  • low budget? wow. Yeah If I can do it with $2,000. you can do it with 6-7,000.
  • Your budget is fine, you should be able to have a great wedding/reception.  If you can't get it together and that's okay, you might want to hire a coordinator by the hour.  For a few hundred dollars if not less, she/he should be able to lead you to proper vendors that will fit your budget and provide you with the best outcome.  That will take the stress off of you.  Once you have all the information from the coordinator, make the appointments, pick the vendors you like and DONE!

    Good luck!
  • I would start by taking a deep breath, because you are obviously flustered. Then start by looking up the local wedding ceremony and reception venues on the internet. You can get good idea of what the place would look like and prices if they have a decent website. Narrow your choices down that way and then call and make an appt. to see the ceremony areas you like. Once you choose the venue for the ceremony call around to the reception venues that you liked, and are close to the venue you chose for the ceremony and ask if they allow outside catering. Then make appointments with the reception venues that do. Choose the venue you like best or fits the feel of your wedding best and put the deposit down. From there just take it one step at a time. Check the local listings on this website for resources on local photographers, DJ's wedding musicians, florists etc. Just focus on one get it booked and then move on to the next. Check the websites for all of these, you'd be surprised how many you can rule out just by the examples of their work that they put on the website.

Hope this helps and Happy Planning!
