Swirl rose petal for aisle runner??

I absolutely love this look!  Our aisle is approx. 30 feet long.  I have no idea how many petals I'll need or what to do to get this look.  Our wedding is outdoors in a garden.  Any suggestions how to pull this off?

Roping off is a good idea like Ghoti said.  If you want an affordable aisle runner I would use silk flowers.  If you can invest some time equity I would do what a bride on this site did...DIY aisle runner. Check it out.
