Outdoor Weddings

Color Help!

My fiance and I are getting married in August at an estate with a creek running along the property. The grounds have waterfalls and rocks, as well as trees and flowers. The entire ceremony and reception will be outdoors...no tents or anything. I would like a modern style reception, and would like to keep it relatively simple on the decorations. I am not a big flower person, so I am going to use flowers minimally. I am having the hardest time choosing colors. I like red and black at weddings, but feel that is more of a formal, indoor setting. I have narrowed it down to:
* Black, pewter, and a grey-ish blue (it's called onyx, pewter, and cloud on the knot)
* Chocolate brown and Lime or kiwi
* Black and white

I am hoping to have white anemones as my main flower, so I don't want them to clash with my colors. Any help/ideas would be much appreciated!!!

Re: Color Help!

  • You can use red and black if those are the colors you like.  All of your colors sound pretty, just go with what speaks to you.

    Out of curiousity, what happens if it rains?  You post says you don't have a tent... can you move the wedding inside if the weather is terrible?  Brides have had their outdoor weddings muddled by rain, snow, extreme heat, cold, and even wild fire smoke.  Be sure you have a back-up plan!

  • Luckily there is an indoor area on site that we can use if necessary...indoor bar and dance floor. We are just keeping our fingers crossed that it is unnecessary! Thanks for the advice!
  • * Black, pewter, and a grey-ish blue (it's called onyx, pewter, and cloud on the knot)
    * Chocolate brown and Lime or kiwi

    I like these two palettes for an outdoor wedding, if you use black minimally for the first one.  I feel like the red/black combo would fight against the natural foliage too much.  Just my opinion though!  Ultimately, you have to go with what your heart desires!
