Outdoor Weddings

Sunset, pictures and timing

I am getting married next summer -- most likely Memorial Day weekend -- in the Washington, DC area. We're doing an outdoor ceremony/indoor reception at a historic mansion. Because of the climate and the fun factor, we want to do an evening wedding and reception.

The place we are most likely going to book has our rental time beginning at 7 p.m. I am concerned that we might not get enough daylight. Our ceremony will be on the short side, but I also want to be able to do outdoor pictures after the ceremony. (I've found that most "evening wedding" rental times for similar venues start at 7 -- and most of them assume that you'll be getting married outside unless it rains -- so I guess this is a common theme.)

I am going to see if we can maybe adjust the site rental time so we can do our ceremony at 6:30. In the meantime, I wish I'd paid more attention to sunset times last month! Can anybody weigh in on how much daylight we'll likely have left for our ceremony?
