Outdoor Weddings

BUGS

Having an outdoor wedding in the Colorado mountains in June.  May or may not have mosquitoes...depending on how dry/wet it is, but I want to be prepared.

What products have people used that works?  Citronella candles/tikis, stuff like that?

Thanks!

Re: BUGS

  • Citronella bucket candles surrounding the tent or reception space helped (I think) at my aunt's wedding.  Also buy a couple of the nicer orange smelling bug sprays (I know Deep Woods Off has a citrus scented one) and have them by the entrance to the restrooms or somewhere else where people will see them and use them.  Good Luck and I wish you a dry and slightly breezy day!
  •   Tiki torches with citronella is a great idea, and will really lend ambiance to the whole setting. And as said above, providing bug spray to your guests is good too. You might also consider doing a "bug bomb" of the area an hour or two before everything gets underway. Lots of stores carry these outdoor, large area bug sprays that are supposed to help control mosquitos over a large area. Here in Colorado, the bugs really depend on location and elevation. Best of luck to you - hope you have great weather for your wedding!
  • Tiki torches are cool, but they really only cover a small area, so you will need a lot.
dont make ur password so easy. gbck2CA2 hahahaha
  • We are having an indoor ceremony/reception, but there is a patio that people can go out on if they want, and we plan to use tiki torches and citronella candles to help out with the bugs.  The bugs is the main reason I could never get into having an outdoor wedding...just couldn't do it!
