Sound on the Beach

If any of you had some sort of play list that you wanted to play at your beach wedding, how did you get sound to the beach?

Our site is about 75 yards from the parking, and we're pretty sure an extension cord thing wouldn't work.  Also, no one wants to get sand in their expensive equipment, so I was wondering if you guys had any ideas.

  • We had a small deck that our dj set up some speakers on. Can you prop up the equipment on something?

is the reception also being held on the beach? if its just the ceremony being held there, then you could have an acoustic guitarist playing. My friends who are getting married on the beach are doing that.

  • I pod and portable, battery operated speakers
  • A little late on this thread, but we are getting married this coming weekend on Tybee beach, and it's going to be near the water and on a busy holiday weekend (so we need powered sound).  We are setting up a keyboard and amp with a car battery running them for power for the ceremony (fi's a carguy so he has an extra or two hanging about to pick from).  Not something I'd reccomend unless you have someone who knows what they are doing, because the amount of time they will power equipment depends on size, and improper hookup could damage equipment.
