HELP PLEASE!!!

My fiance is a Turbine machanic so we travel all over the us. We are getting married on May 26th 2012 yes in 3 months!!! This is all I have done. Have the ceremony site, have the reception site, dj, and cake, I have to order my dress yet, get my invites, my problem right now is CENTER PIECES. Right now I know I have 16   80" round tables. I have picked out not ordered all my flowers but I don't know how many flowers to order for the center pieces or what size vase. these are the flowers I picked out from afloal.com  Pink Hydranga bush (I figured I could cut the flowers off the bush)  9" Pink Peony, 22" SweetPea spray Pink, 22" Gerbera Daisy Spray Choc Brown, 25" Tiger Lily Spray Choc Brown.  also should I go with all tall center pieces or should I go with tall and short???

Re: HELP PLEASE!!!

  • I think you should be more worried about your dress then centerpieces. If your buyinga  brand new dress froma  designer it can take anywhere from 3-6 months for it to come in PLUS any alterations.
I personally prefer short centerpieces because I like to see the people who are sitting across from me and especially with flowers like hydrangeas and peonies (they are not small flowers) these can definitely obstruct a view.

  • I agree with the previous poster.
Get the dress.  Then lock in the centerpieces.

    I will add this:
If you are having your reception at a place that usually hosts weddings and receptions and retirement parties and charity galas, then the venue already owns several styles of centerpieces that they put out for those events.  For example, our wedding recep was at a country club, and I asked to see the centerpieces they have.  I was shown four different centerpieces, all beautiful - I picked one and that one was put on every table FOR FREE as they set the tables for the reception.  That was perfect for us because we didn't have to order flowers and fret about the floral delivery and the extra set-up.  Might consider that...
  • I would be worrying about the dress as the PP said.  If you buy it from a designer you have to pay and then they will make it.  Usually they don't just have them hanging out in a warehouse somewhere if it is more on the expensive side so they don't have to waste them or drastically mark them down once the new fashions come in.  I would even start looking NOW for a sample dress if your going that route because as it gets closer to your wedding day, the alterations fill up quickly!  I am having an OOT wedding and could barely get scheduled in for my alterations in April.

I would also be worried about the officient, photographer, and if your having a WP attire.

In terms of center pieces if you are working with a florist they should be able to help you figure out how many depending on what look you are going for and price range.  Even if it just a wholesale company they may be able to help you.

    Best of luck!

  • Thank you on the dress but it only takes 10 weeks for my dress to get to me i have time.  I Have a officient and  photographer. thank you for all your help.
  • I have run into another problem I had a company that made cardboxes in the white snowfall true timber material but she no longer makes them in that material. All my other wedding accessories are in the white snowfall true Timber. That compant did not make the card boxes. Does anyone know of anyother company I can get my cardbox in the White snowfall True Timer???
  • Even if your dress will only take 10 weeks to get here, your wedding is only 3 months away (or 12 weeks!!!) That is only 2 weeks for alterations?!?! You'll be hard pressed to even get an appointment for alterations, and you'll likely pay a "rush" fee. And what if your alterations come back not 100%? Or wrong completely? You'l have no time to fix.

And I'm sure many gals here will chime in...even if you are 100% sure you won't need any alterations..you never know!!!
