Zephyr Cove?

My FH and I want to get married up in Lake Tahoe next June 17th. I've been up to the Zephyr Cove Resort, and recieved a quote from them. I have a few questions: Has anyone (or a friend of yours) been to a wedding up there? If so good experiences, bad experiences etc.?

And is $10,500 for a 5hr ceremony/reception w/a full BBQ buffet, open beer/wine bar, tent, lighting, heating, linens, tables, chairs, arbor DJ, minister, bridal changing room reasonable?

Any insight would be much appreciated!

Re: Zephyr Cove?

  • I haven't been there for a wedding but I know June is high season for anything in Lake Tahoe. So if this is within your budget and for the # of people you are inviting then why not? You still have to pay for your dress, tuxes/suits, lodging, license, photography, videography, favors, centerpieces, cake etc.

  • I love Zephyr Cove! Thats a pretty good price since it includes a DJ, etc...for Lake Tahoe of course. Keep in mind, Zephyr Cove is pretty busy in June and July (think lots of drunk 20-somethings) and is quite the party town. Personally, I like that...but its not for everyone.

  • this is a GREAT price for a wedding at zephyr or anywhere in tahoe!  i think if that fits your budget that you should snatch it up right away!  just a note though--sometimes in june it is still cold in tahoe--we moved from tahoe on memorial day this year and it was SNOWING when we left and they continued to get snow and the ski resorts stayed open until the 4th of july.  last year in june, all the snow was gone, but it was cold and rainy the whole month.  just a heads up!
  • Thanks for all the feedback...I was a little worried about the weather in June but I definitely do not want a wedding up there any time between July -August/early September. So I think I'm going to take my chances with the weather (I remember it was still a little chilly this past June). Plus I really like that they block off the area for the ceremony so you don't have people walking through/around it...Just wanted to get a sense of pricing and what everyone thought of the venue in general. I'm not doing favors, or videography. Cupcakes instead of cake, and they will double as centerpieces, my mom has a house up there, my aunt's brother will be doing the photography so I'm saving in other areas. Plus  I'm contributing what I can (like my dress, extra decorations for the tent etc.)

I'm going up there this weekend so my Fiance and Dad can check it out and give their two cents...and with any luck put down a deposit. Thanks for the input =)
