Venue Advice- Chicago, IL

Hello- any advice on a wedding venue in or around Chicago... would go as far as southern Wisconsin.  Our family is in Antioch so maybe somewhere in between but prefer Chicago.  Here is our dilemma.  We both have huge famalies.  So we are looking at a guest list around 350- thus hoping for a turnout around 300.  We want to keep it as cheap as possible with still serving food and drinks.  We are not into sit down fancy dinners- we actually would prefer something like hotdogs, tacos... you get the drift... crap food.  My best friend does own a catering company but I am having trouble finding a place that allows me to bring in catering.  Last monkey wrench... the only thing I DO NOT want is a banquet hall or tent... I want something unique.  A tent "could" be made unique and then I would be fine with it... but I am thinking more along the lines of rooftop, loft, outside... something like that.  I am not a huge fan of flowers, favors, fancy invitations, etc. so I am going to save a lot of money there but any ideas on venue to really pinch pennies but not slice the guest list??  Any help would be appreciated... this is becoming un fun!

  • i answered on the reception board.   whenposting on more than 1 board  its polite to put XP in title so we know been posted on more than 1 board.
  • I know Im late to this post, but:  How do you feel about camping?  My brother had a wedding that involved the entire wedding (guests and all) camp out for a weekend.  State campgrounds dont allow alcohol, so that might be a concern, but there is a campground on the beach in Zion...just an idea!
