Agree with pp and also wanted to add to check out gohawaii.com. It's very informative and also has a feature where you can search for a Hawaii Specialist travel  agent. I also HIGHLY recommend scrolling down to the bottom of this chat board and doing a search, or even just scrolling through th last few pages of posts. There are probably 1-2 Hawaii posts a day from various knotties that can provide you tons of info. I think every Hawaiian Island will give you most of what you are looking for, so take a look at the reveale guides, website, and other posts, do some preliminary pricing online with flights, and see what best fits your total needs and buget.

  • Try GoHawaii.com. That's the site we used to narrow down the island we went to for our HM (Oahu). It has lots of great information on all the major islands, sample itineraries, restaurants, hotels, etc.

FWIW we loved Oahu. We did lots of sightseeing, active things (hiking, water sports, etc) with lots of laying on the beach too. Also depending how long you are going for, you might consider doing two islands and getting the best of both worlds.

  • Ditto PPs, try gohawaii to find out which island suits your vacation plans the best and then go from there.  Tripadvisor and the Revealed books are fantastic resources.  In general though, don't stress about picking the island, they are all fantastic and you will have a great time no matter where in Hawaii you go.

FWIW, we've went to the Big Island (Kona) in September before and had fantastic weather.  Also, we found that airfares were cheaper then too, so that's a plus!
