Rain plan

Im getting married in three weeks and realized I don't really have a rain plan. We are hoping to have the ceremony in a garden, then reception in a large tent. I know we can just move the ceremony into the tent, but not sure whether we should move the tables and set up rows of seats and hang some curtain to block it off. Anyone have a rainy outdoor wedding and how did you handle it?

Re: Rain plan

  • If it is raining, does your tent have walls?  If it rains and there is wind you'll need the walls.

I think a lot of times people just sit at the dining tables for the ceremony if it is in the same physical location as the reception.  Less moving and hassle for everyone.

  • We didn't have much of a rain plan for our outdoor reception and when the day came, the morning was raining cats and dogs. We had four tents, but they didn't have walls. Thankfully, the rain cleared 15 minutes before guests arrived. We did have one bit of rain during the party, but not enough to make guests uncomfortable.

My roommate got married outdoors during a horrible hurricane. She decided not to move the ceremony under cover and in the middle of the ceremony it started to downpour. Thankfully, she is a fun-loving girl and had a great time in the end. Beautiful pictures too!
