Need aisle runner ideas for outdoor wedding

Our ceremony is outdoors in North Carolina at the end of March. Our aisle runner needs to be 3 feet X 75 feet. It will be placed on grass so I can't use the typical light fabric one, it must be heavy duty one so heels don't pierce through it. Id really appreciate any ideas you may have. Also, I'd love to find as inexpensive an option as possible. Thanks

We used a polycloth aisle runner, it was really sturdy!

I wish I could help, but we aren't having an aisle runner. Since we are walking on grass, and the ground is very uneven, I didn't want to add to the risk of tripping by having one. So we plan to line the aisle with rose petals instead. Have you tried a goodle search for what you're looking for?

Great thread.  I've been trying to figure out what kind of fabric I need for an aisle runner on grass as well.

Do you really NEED one???  I don't think they are real special or anything and IMO they are a waste of $$.  If an aisle is really that important to you, what about a thick aisle of petals?

Yeah, I think petals would be both prettier and more conscientious.  You wouldn't have to worry about anyone tripping or heels poking through, and the petals are much more ecologically friendly.

Thanks for the great ideas, I will check them out. FI mentioned not even having a runner but I'm worried that if we don't have an aisle runner and it rains earlier in the week the ground may still be moist and I don't want to drag my dress through it if it may cause grass stains or be muddy.

I'm looking for one too.  I know they can be dangerous outdoors but I do want to protect my dress. I thought about a roll of indoor/outdoor carpet, any thoughts about that?

Best option I've seen for outdoor runners is renting one from a party rental company.  They have them in white or ivory carpet for weddings.  No punching through, no shifing, no problem.  :-)

I have brides fall because of the aisle runner on grass. So I don't think it is a good idea to have one.

I really like the idea of rose petals for the aisle runner instead of a form of fabric. I was worrying about this too since I didn't want my girls or myself tripping over it or dealing with that embarrassing "Pop! Pop!" noise as your heals pierce through those cheaper plastic ones. The studier one does sound tempting, but I prefer the more natural look, it will add a little romance to the whole thing as well I think (something else I was concerned about as well)
