Unable to reach outdoor venue owner!! Help!

Hi all! My fiance and I are hoping/planning for a Sept. 2012 wedding. We both want something out of the ordinary and customized for us for our ceremony and reception/dance. I had my heart set on The Enchanted Barn www.theenchantedbarn.com - from looking at the website and it seems like the perfect venue. It is a little out of the way (about 3 hours from us) but all of our family would be traveling in some way or another and it would be a weekend affair if we held it there --- anyways, I CANNOT get ahold of the guy! I have been trying once or twice a week for 2-3 weeks with no calls back! I've left messages and nothing. I don't know what to do... I think my next option is to hold everything at our home in  the country but the idea of everything there scares me! Any ideas on how to get ahold of the owner of the Enchanted Barn? Thanks gals!!

This guy isn't setting a good precedent and doesn't seem interested in your business.  You shouldn't have to chase after a vendor; he should want to earn your business.   What if you give him a few hundred dollars for a deposit and then he continues to not call you back?  If he calls you soon and has a really good excuse (i.e. "I was in the hospital" or "My mother died"), then I'd let it slide; otherwise, make other plans.

If you really have your heart set on this place, wait a few weeks and see if he calls back...it is the thick of wedding season, after all.  If not, drive out there and see if you can find someone to talk to.  You've still got a some time before you HAVE to decide (I know you want to already...I was the same way--turned out my venue director's mom had just passed away and I had to be patient for a few weeks before we could talk details).  And, if it doesn't work out, I'm sure you'll find something else that will get you excited, too--nothing ever works out exactly as planned!   Good luck!
