heavy place card holders/ideas

We are having our place card table outside and need ideas for place cards/holders that are heavy and will not blow away. I also don't want to spend a dollar or more on each holder. We have considered apples/limes and writing on rocks.

Any other ideas?

I think painted rocks with writing could be unique and pretty.
