Alaska or hawaii??

My fiancee and i are in debate over where to go!!  We thought we were set on a 10 day alaskan cruise... we live in Florida we have beaches everywhere :)  but now all of a sudden we're considering maybe hawaii... any thoughts??

or any other MUST DO places??

Re: Alaska or hawaii??

  • It all depends what you want.  I heard good things about the Alaskan cruise and you might enjoy it for a change of pace from the beaches that are closer to home.  You might want to compare the cost and what kinds of activities you can do in each place.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • I hear Alaska is beautiful but I have never been. It definitely is VERY different. Hawaii is a tropical paradise. I've traveled to Florida, Mexico, most Caribbean islands, and Europe and when I got to Hawaii I thought, "Wow, this is paradise".

I guess it just depends if you want something tropical and lush or if you want to see glaciers and cuddle together with a cup of warm cocoa in front of a cozy fire :)

    Both sound awesome!

  • Alaska! And do NOT do a cruise- you don't see half of what Alaska has to offer from them.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Alaska or hawaii?? : Yes, you are right about cruising, but <strong>the OP is planning her honeymoon, not an in depth travel experience.  </strong>The cruise ships give you a week of pampering and wonderful food, together with a brief travel experience for a very good price.  If you want an serious Alaska trip, then land based trips are the way to go.  I must point out that Alaska prices can be a shock to those of us from the lower 48.  DH and I went up the haul road to Prudhoe Bay.  I was a very good sport.  I wouldn't want to do THAT on my honeymoon!  (No bathrooms for 500 miles!)

<div>That all depends on what she is looking for. Our honeymoon was jam packed with activities and we loved every second of it. It was perfect for us. We ate well, had lots of *ahem*typical honeymoon activities*ahem*, but we also snorkeled, had a helicopter tour, ziplined, drove the road to hana, went to the top of a volcano, swam in the ocean, etc. Not everyone's honeymoon needs to be relaxing and pampering. It's what you want individually.</div><div>
</div><div>That being said, both places are great options. We got married on Maui and had our honeymoon there and like PPs said, it truly is paradise. It's my favorite place in the world and we will be back regularly. It's a dream.</div>
  • We're doing both! We couldn't decide either!
