will no floor in an outdoor tent ruin my dress?

Hi -
I'm looking at having an indoor/outdoor wedding reception with the outdoor bit being under a tent.  I'm worried about the grass/ or mud (if it rains) ruining my dress/shoes.  Any advice or experience?

Thanks

I had satin shoes as my flats, and they were DESTROYED.  Like totally wrecked beyond repair by the end of the night, but I never noticed at the time and am pretty sure that by the very end of the night nobody was wearing any shoes.  My dress fared much better though, and yes there were some stains on the bottom, but nothing noticable that night since nobody is looking at the bottom of your dress!

My seamstress took my dress up about an inch higher than she would have for an indoor wedding to give room for the grass and that was key for not having it be more of a mess.  I was a little nervous at first because in the dress salon it looked too short, but it was perfect on the lawn.

  • I wouldn't risk it if I were you. You're gonna have to worry about heels sinking in as well. I know I wouldn't dance at a wedding unless their is flooring, since I almost always wear heels when I'm a guest as a wedding. I'm sure you can think of a creative solution for finding some kind of flooring that'll fit in your budget.
  • I would highly recommend a floor.

And yes, your dress will get very dirty.  The bottom of my dress is brown and only our ceremony and pictures were outdoors.  My satin heels were also ruined from being outside in them.  That's just something you're going to have to expect if part or all of your wedding is outdoors.
