Help please! Orchard ceremony decoration ideas

We're getting married in this amazing pecan orchard (www.caney-creek.com or pic below).  We're going pretty simple - bouquets will be simple sunflowers, for example.  We're really struggling with if/what to do for a ceremony backdrop.  We don't want some sort of wedding arch.  We have toyed with the idea of draping some fabric from the trees (but hard to execute) or shepherd hooks (not tall enough).  The trees are pretty tall so hanging something from them could be difficult.  We don't want to have to rent anything.  We're starting to wonder if we need anything at all, or if we can skip the ceremony backdrop altogether?

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions welcome!  TIA!

  • I wouldn't over do the decorations here, it beautiful on its own.   If you want a focal point for the altar area, maybe something like this:

My dad is helping me build one for our outdoor wedding.  Then I'm using shephard's hooks and hanging rose pomander balls along the aisle.

Other than a table for our sand ceremony and the chairs we're not adding much more outside.

  • We're also getting married in a orchard at our venue and i've chosen to completely skip the backdrop. I came to the same conclusion, it would get to difficult having to hang items up in the trees and I don't want to rent anything. I could put the money somewhere else. The trees make a pretty enough backdrop as it is.
  • I think nature is completely beautiful and with people all around, you don't need extra decor.  But, if you are looking for a little bit of pop, you can use paper lanterns to hang from the trees, and hang them by heavy fishing line to the height you want. I personally don't think the altar needs to stand out with stuff, it will with the people up there at it.

  • What an amazing location. Stunning in itself without too much embellishment. I have seen (and have made myself) feather butterflies threaded on clear fishing line hung from branches. I would say grab a tall ladder and hang from the branches that will create a frame for where you will be standing.

I would say something delicate to not overpower the trees which are the focus of the space.

Your other option is to scatter something on that beautiful aisle created by the trees and highlight the area you will be standing with a different color of petal there.

    Cheers and Congrats!
  • I wouldn't have anything. It would take away from the beauty of the orchard - and I'm assuming the beauty is the reason you've chosen it.
