Tent Reception.

Hey everyone. My wedding is on fh's families farm. We are having a tent reception there, i was quoted at $1,000 for the tent. $1.00 per chair and $7.00 regardless of size of table. They only charge a $50 dollar fee for set up, tear down, and delivery. Downside: chairs are ugly..they offer plastic lawn chairs or fold up white chairs. Anyway, if you are having a tent wedding can you tell me what you have been quoted at. and if you have ugly chairs what do you plan to do about it lol.

We didn't have a tent reception, but we did have ugly black chairs at our reception. I couldn't do anything about them, so I dressed them up by buying bright organza chair sashes to tie around them. Worked like a charm! As far as price quotes, it will definitely vary on here since this is an international board since some cities are pricier than others. Perhaps you could ask your local board to see if they have any other vendor ideas for tents?

I would highly reccomend looking at other rental companies. You can get the tent from one and find the chairs you want at another. We are paying 2.25 per chair for fruitwood chairs with ivory pads and all the tabels depended on the size-5-10 a piece. Does the $1000 include sides? Make sure you are not being quoted for only the canopy but for the sides as well. DO research and get it all in writing!! We had to push our weddign back a year so most of my planning is done but I cannot say this enough. ASK questions, GET IT IN WRITING!! We have lost about $2500 so far by not having it in writing. Wont make that mistake again.

Thanks for the advice. I guess i was being silly to think that I should get everything from one place. I will look into some other places for chairs and tables. I e-mailed a planner the other day and i am waiting to hear back. So hopefully she will be able to give me some advice. Thanks connie for your input!

The tent size is 40x60. and includes the sides along with set up, delivery, and tear down i didn't think $1,000 was that bad. Is it?

The cost of tents can vary. If you are getting one with sides, and it's 40x60, that seems to be a reasonable price. We are going smaller, and they are running around $400 each without the sides.

In WI, where I think most things are a bit cheaper, here is what I am paying:

$0.85 for yes ugly black chairs
$8/ea for banquet tables and a few round tables
My tent breaks down like this:
40x60 $875
2 triangle parts $350
40x40 Hexagon $455
12 Window walls $360
Grand total to fit 296 ppl $2040
so granted I made mine look more than just a rectangle and dearly for it, but your quote sounds right on!
After all was said and done for 300ppl, my rental was $3500.

The tent I am going with is 30x60 for $ 900 and the chairs are white garden for $ 2.00 a piece. I personally like the idea of getting the most you can from one vender because I feel that it will make the day easier. I would suggest asking the tent person if they offer other chair types.
