Re: pic before wedding and ceremony timeline

  • I had an outdoor wedding with a start time of 1pm
    we did pictures from 10-12:30
    the ceremony started at 1pm
cocktail hr was at about 1:30-2:45
    and the reception following that
    the introduced us
    we had our 1st dance
    dinner & dancing
    father daughter dance
    son mother dance
cake cutting, vienese table & candy station opened
    farewell with coffee and water
  • I am having a church wedding but we are doing pictures beforehand - my reception is outdoors at a family member's house.  Everything is very close though so this could also work for an outdoor wedding on-location.
    Getting Ready: 9 - 12
    Pictures: 12:30 - 2:30
    Ceremony: 3 - 4
    Family/Group Photos: 4 - 4:30
    Cocktail Hour: 5 - 6
    Dinner & Reception Start: 6

I am still having a cocktail hour in order to make sure everyone gets from one site to another.  It also gives people a chance to get a drink from the bar, find their seats, mingle and chat before they are called to their seats for dinner at 6.  I wanted to avoid the dreaded Catholic gap so we are doing wedding party and bride/groom photos ahead.  One thing to keep in mind is that we are going to have to find an indoor or heavily shaded location for these photos since photos in glaring sunlights from noon to about 3:30 tend to have harsh shadows.
  • i'm all at one location, all outdoors. we are taking 99% of our pictures ahead of time (including those of me and FI). this is my own estimated timeline at this time:

photos of me & FI 2pm
    bridal party photos 3pm
    family photos 4pm
    ceremony 6pm (invites say 5.30)
dinner 7.30 (hoping, might get pushed to 8pm)
    ice cream "cutting" 8.45pm
    first dance 9pm
  • I got this from another knottie, but with a few tweaks, this is basically what I'll be following:

    9:00 am Rise and shine!
    10:00 am Breakfast/showers/relax
    12:00 pm Lunch arrives
    12:30 pm MUA arrives
12:45 pm Girls ready for makeup and hair
    1:00-2:00 pm BM makeup/hair
    2:00-4:00 pm Bride’s hair/makeup
    4:00 pm Photographers arrive
    4:00 pm Bride gets dressed
    4:00-5:00 pm MOH makeup/hair
    4:30 pm B&G Reveal
    5:00-5:30 pm Bridal party pictures
    5:30-6:00 pm Family pre-ceremony pictures
6:00 pm Officiants and musicians arrive
    6:30 pm Prelude
