At Home Wedding & Reception - Parking?

Our wedding is taking place at our home.  I live in a subdivision and I know there will probably be about 30 cars (if not more) lining the street on either side.  We have a couple of neighbors who are invited.  I was thinking about penning a note to the other neighbors across the street and on either side to let them know about our plans.

On our website I have indicated to our guests to be mindful and respectful of our neighbor's property and drive-ways.  Is there anything else I should do?  Is this sufficient?  Thanks for your thoughts.

  • You might contact the city or your homeowner's association to make sure you don't need a permit.

I would definitely contact all of your surrounding neighbors and let them know what is going on.    The ones who are invited might let people park in their driveways.

Also if there is anything close by, a park or strip mall, where people could park and then just walk a short distance to your house, that would probably be a good option as well.

Thanks!  Those are very good suggestions.  I wish there was a place where our guests could park, but unfortunately that isn't the case.  I will contact my HOA to see what needs to happen.
  • If your neighbors are like my neighbors, they park all 3 of their cars in the street instead of their garage or driveway. I would contact the city for a permit. Depending on your city, I think you can get a permit for event parking on streets. So, they are reserved for permit holders only, that would maybe free up parking spots for guests.

But, hopefully your neighbors are friendly. : )
