Honeymoon Discussions

Newport, RI

Hello everyone!

Due to our work schedules, I don't know if we will be able to take a long honeymoon immediately after our wedding. I'd go on either a pre-honeymoon, or post-honeymoon either the summer before or after.

But, a shorter trip to a place like Newport, RI could work (we live in NJ.)

Suggestions - where to stay, what to do, which mansions to see, wineries, restaurant, cute b&b's vs. chain hotels, etc. Thank you!!

Re: Newport, RI

  • I went to Newport a few years back and it was amazing!! There isn't one thing I didn't like. We went for the waterfire festival in Providence and that was definitely an experience!

Make sure to check out the Breakers and Rosecliff. Do the whole walk down the coastline and take it all in :)

This bolded part. It's called the Cliff Walk. Definitely do that. I wish I could say more, but we weren't there too long.
  • Newport is beautiful. I recommend staying at the chanler at cliff walk if your budget allows. But it is very expensive there. If you don't end up staying there, you need to at least go visit and eat at their restaurant called The Spiced Pear. It's so amazing. Also, the cliff walk is beautiful to take a walk. I also recommend taking a tour of the rosecliff

  • I luckily live about 30 minutes from the beautiful Newport, RI. We spend a night here on our dating anniversary every year. Go to dinner, spend the night, go to lunch the next day...

Our favorite little hotel is The Chanler on the Cliff Walk. LOVE IT! It is pricey, but spoil yourself for at least a night here, it is worth it! The Ocean Front balcony rooms have a little private hot tub outside on your own patio with a beautiful ocean view. The sun/moon's reflection off the ocean is breathtaking.

This year we stayed at The Hyatt on Goat Island (Where my FI proposed! We also got our engagement photos done here). I loved it there - even though it's more of a chain hotel. This has a very nice view of the ocean and outdoor area as well.

If you need any restaurant suggestions or anything, let me know! We take day trips and go for lunch all the time. sparkellyy1@gmail.com =)

  • My fiance and I went for a week 2 years ago. We love Newport and are actually getting married there in May. We stayed at the Victorian Ladies Inn (Memorial Blvd). Staying there allowed us to walk to all the mansions, the cliff walk, and walk down Memorial Blvd to restaurants. It was a beautiful place.
We went to The Breakers, Rosecliff, The Elms (did the behind the scenes tour and rooftop), Marble House, and Chateau Su Mer.
