Aisle Runner

I know this one if beat to death on here, but has anyone used burlap as an aisle runner outside?  I can place it ahead of time and use landscape fabric stakes to fix it in place. The fabric stakes are U shaped and push into the ground several inches. FI doesn't seem to think anyone's shoe heels would go through it.  and it shouldn't bunch up if its fixed in place.

Re: Aisle Runner

  • I think it will still be a hazard.  Someone's heel could snag it and and get stuck.  Someone could be walking on to it from the side and their foot could get caught underneath between the stakes.

I'm really anti-runners for an outdoor wedding on grass.  Sometimes they can work on a patio or some other concrete surface.

There are hundreds of ways to decorate the aisle without a runner that can be beautiful and hazard free.

  • Honestly I think it sounds worse than a traditional aisel runner, snag/walking-wise. Runners seem pointless for outdoor weddings anyway. We used dried rose petals instead and lined the aisle with small bamboo sticks from save-on-crafts.
  • I think rose petals are a very pretty way to define your aisle! It was what I was going to use but I forgot about them until the last minute so I didn't have time to find any, unfortunately. Even wth nothing to define my aisle, just the grass looked fine. When having an outdoor wedding you should work with the natural beauty of your surroundings.

  • Muslin is a good material for aisle runners :D Im buying mine at Hobby Lobby for 1.99 a yard and I am going to DIY my own monogram.
