Where to GO?! In July?

Hi fellow knots! This is my first post and it's because I realized that my wedding is coming up in July and we have NO clue what to do for our honeymoon. We've been stressed out attempting to find a house we like (nothing exists in our area that I want to buy!!) to remember to book our honeymoon.

Here's the scoop:
+My uncle told us we can use his time share as a wedding gift (REI), but we don't have to. He would NOT be paying for our flights or AI.
+We are both teachers so we can take as much time as we can afford.
+His parents are giving us a generous financial gift as a wedding present, some of which we'd like to use as a down payment on a house (if we ever find one), so our budget can range, but we'd like to stay under 6k.
+We don't want to go to any place either of us has already been which includes: England, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Bahamas, St. Martin, Bermuda, (and a few other cruise popular islands--that I can't remember because he has been there, not me).

My current obsession is Iceland. I like adventures and taking things day by day. I studied abroad without knowing anyone when I went so I'm used to planning and not knowing what might happen. He comes from a very structured family and isn't quite as comfortable with that--but he'll do anything once.

ANY SUGGESTIONS? :) Merry Christmas Y'all!

Hi, I'm new here, but I just wanted to chime in on Iceland. That's my obsession as well and where we're planning to go. From all of my research online about it (and I've done TONS) I have not read one negative review about someone's trip. It seems so different from all the usual places with lots of outdoor activities and "naturey" things to see. You can always do other Scandinavian countries too, as another option.
  • I would go somewhere NOT unbearably hot, so you could get out and DO things during the day and evening if you chose to.

And I've traveled a lot overseas, but really would NOT choose all of that plane/travel time and money/time changes and hassle for a honeymoon - when you will be totally wiped out from the week preceeding your wedding and the wedding and reception itself.

We chose to spend a week in San Diego.  It's a reasonable plane trip, with just one change in planes.  The weather is high of 78 and low of 58, so it's wonderful.  There are TONS of things to do in San Diego, from the zoo to art museums, from LaJolla to the Del hotel, etc.
  • My CW just got back from New Zealand. Like pp's said, he absolutely loved the week he was there and the flight getting there wasn't that bad (from chicago), but coming back was a 35hr door-to-door trip that he described as the worst day of his life
  • Thank you everyone! We were chatting about our honeymoon over the holidays and Hawaii popped up. We thought about flying from Philadelphia to LA to HI. We would spend our "free" time share week in HI...(not sure where...ideas? I heard Princeville is just splendid!) and spending some time in San Fran and Napa when we fly home for a few days? Any thoughts?

To my PP regarding Austrailia, Thailand, South Africa...I WANT SO BADLY TO GO! But I think you guys are right...with the time and money we currently have, we should probably wait a bit.
And I had absolutely NO luck talking him into Iceland. psh.
