Re: Candy Buffet/Bar

  • I was playing with the idea of a candy buffet and saved this picture to my wedding stuff. maybe it will give you a little inspiration for red. I think rock candy would be perfect. I also saw orientaltrading.com had there red heart suckers on clearance. But I also once saw lips suckers that would be cute with your theme. Or how about ring pops? HTH!

  • Yay someone else IS awake ! hehe i'm wired on Wedding ideas! lol.  Ring pops would be freaking amazing THANK YOU! for that idea :)  i think i can fill a small apothecary jar with ring pops !

  • We're doing a sweets table. We're not having cake, just cupcakes and "mini" desserts, and at the end of the table we'll have cookies and candy with containers. We're not sticking with a color theme for the candy, either. I love how they look all coordinating and what-not, but I like too many types/ flavors of candy to shun them for not being the right color! LMAO

  • Red Hots!!! Whoppers! Chocolate covered raisins!!! Yum!
  • What a fun idea! I did a quick google search for "candy by color", and it looks like there are quite a few bulk candy stores where you can search for candy in the specific colors you want.

  • We are definitely doing a candy bar. We are having a seperate table for it and it's across the room from the cake and buffet tables.

We are not sticking to particular colors but we are doing an old fashioned candy theme. We just bought our first purchases for it this weekend so I'm really excited! We bought a 5 pound bag of chewy mix from Sam's Club for $9 that has Mary Janes, Tootsie Rolls, assorted toffees, Bit-O-Honeys, etc. We also bought two 24 packs of Coca-Cola bottles for $24 that we are going to have in silver buckets on this table.

    Other ideas are:
Candy sticks (we are doing clove flavor but you could find them in your colors)
    try www.bulkcandystore.com
Rock candy (very expensive so we are going to make our own - again you can find them in your colors)
Hershey's bars (a box of 36 or so is about $16 at Sam's Club and you can wrap them with labels in your colors)
Spice jelly beans (you can find them in your colors!)

For the jars, I recommend searching bulk stores because I found some apothecary jars for $3. Matt and I also found oversized Bells mason jars for $3 at Michael's that would work. We are going to try to find a white or glass tiered cake stand to put the rock candy and sticks out.

Good luck and let me know if you need any more suggestions!

  • Ooooh thanks for all the great ideas! I will definately check Michaels for the jars,  online they are a bit pricey, but overside mason jars would be awesome too!

  • I thought of a few more vintage candies

honey sticks they are still pretty popular here in seattle

    old fashioned taffy

    candy juice wax bottles??

And you should defiantlyhave gum ball machines :)

  • GUm Ball machine FOR SURE!!!  I just ordred 3 Apothecary jars from sears (a set) for $29.99, pretty good deal compared with what 've seen, im sure i can find more that are less expensive too.

ordered a lil bit of rock candy for a smaller jar, and the Honey sticks are a great idea! easy to find around here (North of Seattle)

Old fashioned taffy would be great too!

  • I'm looking into a candy buffet but haven't put much thought into it yet. Other then that I want old fashion candy.

For the red how about Boston Baked Beans or Burnt Peanuts? (yum yum)

If your looking for just black candy that would be kind of hard, how about candy in black wrappers? Like those peanut butter flavored chews you get at halloween?

I'm probably not much help. But I'm craving Nik-L-Nips now hahaha (the waxed candy bottles)
