  • We used bits and pices from a few different sources to create the ceremony. I'm hoping to put most of the text in bio. We used "The Art of Marriage" as our reading. The minister was very entertaining. We felt like the wedding should be joyful and not feel like a funeral. There was a moment where he invited our friends and family to be our marriage "godparents", to offer love and support.

I have four kids from my first marriage and we wanted to include them(this was my favorite part)

Rae and Edward walked down the aisle as two individuals but they will exit this church as a family. To honor this commitment they wanted to make a promise to their children and present them with a small gift as symbol of this family.

"Rian, Logan, Skylar and Zachary, we vow to always cherish your intellect, to support and inspire you, to delight in your happiness and to offer comfort when you are in pain. We promise to always maintain a home that celebrates individuality, encourages laughter and disciplines with love. Please accept these small gifts as a symbol of our commitment to our family "

We presented my daughters with a bracelet with a silver locket with their initial engraved on one side and the wedding date on the other side. We gave my son a pocketwatch with his initial and wedding date on the other side.

  • Oh, you look so beautiful!! Glad to hear everything went off without a hitch. Any words of wisdom for us?

That's really beautiful.  So so sweet.  I bet your kids will treasure those keepsakes their whole lives.

I'm with you on the upbeat happy ceremony.  I really really want one, but I feel the mood is completely run by the minister.  I have never met our officiant, and I'm hoping he's not boring or stiff.  :(

  • thanks guys:) I seriously wish I could wear that dress at least once a week for the rest of my life...ha!

Nukke- our officiant was an actor involved with local theater before he joined the ministry so he was incredibly comfortable engaging the crowd. :)

For some reason I was in zen mode and incredibly relaxed the entire wedding day. Our reception venue had no coordinator so we spent the morning together with some friends and family putting everyhting together. It may not be for everyone but working together that day and laughing with our friends and family helped me relax. We had fun the entire day!
  • I love the way you two included your children, can't wait to see more pics.

  • You are a total hottie- you look GREAT in that dress! Gorgeous!

Your ceremony sounds so great- my dad and step-mom gave me a little ring when they got married, and 15 years later it doesn't even fit my pinky but I'll keep it forever :)
