vegan honeymoon

Ok so I'm 100% vegan and my fiance is a "part time" vegan and we still haven't planned our honeymoon. I really want to go somewhere affordable that will actually accomidate my diet with more than just salad and fries. I was thinking about Sandals since they are such a reputable place I figured they MUST be accomidating. Are their any vegan brides or brides to be that can let me know if Sandals is easy to work with? Or of another all inclusive resort in the carrabean that may be accomidating?? HELP!!

Good luck - we are in the same boat. Personally, I just always customize my own stuff o matter where we travel. "Can you leave off the cheese and add some pumpkin seeds." "please, no chicken in the pasta - thanks!" things like that.

If I were a vegan I just probably wouldn't do an all inclusive package and go somewhere with a decent number of restaurants around.

I'd probably skip the sandals idea.  Most of the restaraunts only have 3-4 entrees to choose from, so if you need something very specific or don't want to eat the same 3 things the entire time you are there I might look elsewhere.

I would also probably skip the AI and go to a place where they had plenty of health-conscious or vegan-conscious restaurants around. May not be in the Caribbean though (I honestly have no idea--never been there) but places like San Fran stand out to me as being more health-conscious and having many restaurants that would cater to different dietary stipulations. Or you could just go to regular restaurants and like a PP suggested tell the waiter what you want left out or substituted in your meals.

Like Summer suggested, Northern California or many cities/towns on the Pacific Coast would fit the vegan bill. Portland, OR or Vancouver definitely come to mind. How about Costa Rica or Belize? Quick search on google found a Vegan resort in Costa Rica called Lands in Love, and a vegan friendly ecotourist hotel called The Lodge at Chaa Creek.

I would sugest California too. Austin, Tx has quite a bit to offer in the food department.

Not sure if Disney is your thing but they are the "safest" place to eat on earth (in terms of allergy, specific diets d/t culture, etc) so they would be very accomodating to you.  However, I know some people either LOVE or HATE the idea of Disney as a HM, so there's also that factor. 

My friend with Celiac just returned from her HM from Disney (the dietary thing was a huge contributing factor in their decision), and she didn't have any problems at all with contamination/flare ups/her food allergies.

When we went to an AI they were very accomidating of my fiance's allergies and were able to work around it. A lot of the restaurants had several choices and the waiter was able to help us with what items on the buffet would work for him.

I know a lot of people on here tend to disliek All Inclusives but I feel unless you know for sure what you are talking about, you should probably not just assume.

We went to RIU Palace Riviera Maya if that helps. A lot more affordable then a Sandals resort as well.

Thank you everyone for your input it is really appreciated! As far as staying in the states though, it's simply not an option...we want to go all out. I've only ever went to AI because I enjoy not having to bring a ton of money with me. If anybody else is having this same problem, I spoke with a travel agent who said sandals is an excellent option as they are fully equipped to accomidate my diet. We will be booking our trip in a few weeks and it's going to take place in October this year so I will be sure to post something about the result for anyone who needs help!
