So my FI and I have to get our passports for our HM. He has to get one for the first time and I had a child one so we both have to pay the beginning Passport fee.
Anyway, so my name will be my maiden name on the passport (since we have to get 3 months in advance at least) and I will not change my name until after the HM is over and I have the time to do it.

After the HM we have another trip 6months later. Is there a way around getting a totally new passport for my married name? The passport is good for 10 years but my name will need changed. It seems like you have to pay the passport fee to get your name changed on the passport..which seems kind of stupid when it should last 10 years?

You will not have to pay the fee again since you will just paid for a new passport within the past year.  You will just have to fill out the renewal form, send in your marriage cert and the fee will be waved.

Agreed, I believe you have one year from your original issue date to change your name.  Ask at your local post office, they will know.  Happy travels....

Yes as PPs said you have a year from the initial issue date to change your name on it free ofcharge you just have to mail in a form, your marriage license, and your original one, I didthat with mine and had no problems at all!
