Retro and Vintage Weddings

Need to get this board hopping...

So I will ask a question of you all. What is the most creative way that you are incorporating your theme/time period?

We're doing a late Victorian theme and are having it all at a manor house. We will be playing period music (classical waltzes, rag time) for our guests at the beginning of the reception and gradually bring them through the decades with our selections. We're hoping that they catch on!

  • Geez, that's a tough one. I would like to have a good answer for this, but hmmmm, right now I don't know. I also love the victorian era, but I feel my wedding is going astray from it. I would like to go back and revise my ideas and make them more fitting to the era....

Well, for us, we're aren't having a traditional "wedding" wedding. The only thing traditional about it is the ceremony but I would consider our theme Vintage with a Gothic feel. My make up will be vintage, my dress looks art-deco ish, my ring is vintage inspired, even to the stone (Asscher) but the church we're getting married is oooold. From about the 17th century so there's some Victorian in there as well, which I love.

I'm just a ball of different eras!

We have several little things to make it vintage-inspired.  Vintage centerpieces with candles, buttons and flowers.  My ring is vintage-inspired as well as my shoes.  All of our hair pieces are vintage (BM's and myself)  The flowers will have a classic/vintage feel.  I'm doing a lot of DIY projects as well.
  • LOVE the old traditions and the way everyone is using vintage touches!

  • latina - the bouquet in your siggy is GORGEOUS! Those huge blooms are peonies right? I just went to our local grocery store and they had a bunch of three huge deep red peonies! I about died! I so wish I could have got them, but there's bills to pay, and mouths to feed...
